1992, "annus horribilis" according to Elizabeth II
The year 1992 was a difficult period for her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom. Three of her children separated and the fire broke out at Windsor Castle. The site was her Majesty’s largest residence and was devastated during the fire. It was announced afterwards that the tax payers were to finance the restoration. Critics were abundant as the cost and scale of the Monarchy begin to weigh in the eyes of the population.
